At Westwind we are passionate about reflecting the love of God to impact others for Christ through great partnerships in our city and around the globe.
Our vision with outreach is to engage the mission of Westwind with targeted relationship models that are built upon three core strategic pillars that develop healthy organizational relationships. First, we commit 10% of every dollar that is generously given to the work of God through our church to support our local and global partnerships and to advance the Gospel. Second, we create opportunities for our church to provide essential resources, such as food, materials and clothing that help move our partnership vision forward to accomplish their goals. And finally, we connect volunteers to join in their work with the hands on help that creates powerful relationships and reaches the communities first hand.
Locally we seek partnerships that are meeting the basis and essential needs of shelter, food, financial support, clothing and evangelism. Globally, we seek partnerships that focus on the strategy of pastoral training, church planting and evangelism.
Together with our partners we believe we can change the world with the message of Gospel and together celebrate the work of Jesus in our lives!
BCI - Iowa Ministry Fund
This fund will seek to support organizations that help population groups among us that require more attention and skills that our church members or even churches can normally provide. Examples of ministry categories include adoption and foster care support, ministry to homeless, ministry to poverty-impacted neighborhoods, ministry to communities after natural disasters, crisis pregnancy ministry, addiction recovery, prison ministry and aftercare, and advocacy for justice and religious freedom.

This is a safe place in Des Moines for trafficking survivors to be restored physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Westwind has remodeled an unusable attic space of the home into a room for prayer and reflection by framing, hanging drywall, and painting the walls. Westwind continues to seek ways to support Dorothy’s house though prayer and support of the needs of the trafficking survivors.
Friendship Baptist Center
The Friendship Baptist Center exists to build relationships in this poverty impacted community by offering empowerment through education, development and the transformative love of Christ for kids, youth and adults.
Westwind is helping launch a mobile care unit that will serve to eliminate the need for abortion by informing pregnant mothers of the truth about their baby and abortion. Informed Choice offers ultrasounds, STD tests, counseling services, and newborn care classes – all with the heart of the gospel.
Safe Families for Children is a volunteer-driven movement that relies upon host families, and a network of support, to open their arms, their hearts, and their homes to host vulnerable children.
The Safe Families experience starts at church, where families are invited to not only change the lives of a fellow family for better, but to enrich their own lives by practicing biblical hospitality. By hosting these vulnerable children, along with support from the church, this extended family environment helps keep children safe and keeps families intact.
Instead of waiting for bad things to happen to children, we can step in to help. By design, child welfare systems are designed to react AFTER something bad happens to a child. Such interventions can be necessary in cases of abuse and neglect, but we can help BEFORE bad things occur.

Waukee Area Christian Services
Waukee Area Christian Services (WACS) provides compassionate, practical care to greater Des Moines’ west side, offering food and medical assistance to those struggling to make ends meet. Supported by area churches, businesses and community organizations, WACS includes a food pantry, free medical clinic, and community garden.
Waukee Community Closet
Waukee Community Closet aims to benefit students and families in need within the Waukee Community School District and now all of Dallas County by taking in clothing and bedding donations as well as monetary donations and providing high quality clothing (pre-worn as well as new) and bedding at no charge. By taking care of these basic necessities, it has been shown that students are able to focus on their school work without feeling self-conscious about their lack of clean or well-fitting clothes.
Waukee School District
Our relationship with our school district is very important to us. They have been a big part of our story as a church from the very beginning and through our partnership with district administration, school principals and staff, we are able to support local families by meeting essential needs as they arise. This partnership allows us to collaborate with other local partnerships as well, such as Waukee Area Christian Services and the Waukee Clothing Closet, believing that together we can make deeper impacts and long term change.
Wildwood Hills Ranch
More than 8,000 Iowa youth were abused in 2015 alone. We’d like to introduce you to a few of those 8,000. We meet them all year long—they are very real, and they need our help. They didn’t choose to be born into a family where mom is so addicted she can’t wake up. Or where dad learned from his dad it’s okay to beat your kids. Or a family with no dad at all.
We invite you to put yourself in their shoes. Flee your home in the middle of the night for fear of violence. See life through the eyes of a toddler left home alone all day to fend for themselves. Wonder if you’ll ever feel loved, moving from one foster home to the next. Bathe yourself in hateful, demeaning words. These are our kids’ stories.
Our work isn’t done until all Midwestern children have the opportunity to grow into healthy adults—educated, free from poverty, safe from abuse and violence, and engaged as members of communities and nurturing families.

Young Life - Des Moines
This is the first step of a lifelong journey; the choices they make today, based upon God’s love for them, will have an impact on future decisions — careers chosen, marriages formed and families raised — all ripples from the time when a Young Life leader took time to reach out and enter their world.

Youth For Christ - Centra Iowa
Central Iowa Youth for Christ seeks to help people, primarily teens, understand the hope and purpose that God wants to give them. We have found the most effective way to do this is to establish and nurture relationships with people, and to encourage them to do the same with other people.
Specifically we work through a variety of ministries, tailored to the needs of the individuals we serve. We work with teens in urban, suburban, and rural areas of Central Iowa. We serve teens in juvenile detention centers and teens in wheelchairs. We also reach out to teens who are online.
We have a special burden for teens who are considered to be “at-risk.” Many of the teens we reach come from broken homes and have been exposed to drugs, alcohol abuse, and physical and emotional abuse at home. They are hungry for an adult to take a healthy interest in them to give them a positive example.
CIYFC is not a church, but does offer Bible studies. They are for all people, including those who are unsure of whether they believe in God, those who have committed their life to Him, and those who are somewhere in between. We encourage those who are seeking to ask questions and approach God at their own pace.

From the beginning Westwind has been dedicated to planting Churches. Westwind itself was a Church plant started in 2008. Since that time we have had the privilege to partner with church plants through the Des Moines area and the midwest. Our goal is to continue our efforts to support church plants we share in the mission of sending and reaching local communities with the Gospel.
