Our Mission

We believe that the mission of the Church exists within the Great Commandment and Great Commission.  Within that mission we believe that God has called our local body towards a purpose that is unique and specific to His calling on us for our city.

God’s love is full of forgiveness, restoration, and peace, and we believe that as followers of Christ, and children of God, we are called to reflect His love to those around us and to impact their lives for Christ.

This is the love that is seen in the story of Jesus.  The impact of His life was foretold, demonstrated, and directs our mission as a church.

Our Mission:

Reflecting the love of God to impact others for Christ.

Great Commandment

“Teacher, which command in the law is the greatest?” He said to him,“ Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.
[Matthew 22:36-39 HCSB]

Great Commission:

Then Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
[Matthew 28:18-20 HCSB]

Our Core Values

In order to fulfill our mission of “Reflecting the love of God to impact others for Christ”, we believe that it can be accomplished with our commitment to these four Core Values.

Our History

Westwind began with a desire to start a thriving church in the growing suburbs of western Des Moines. The driving passion was to create a place where people’s lives were impacted by Christ. What began with gatherings in living rooms morphed into launching Westwind Church in the Fall of 2008 in the heart of Waukee.

Today, Westwind is a growing and thriving community. In a few short years, God has taken a small vision and multiplied it. We’ve grown in numbers, but what excites us is the individual lives that are being transformed by Christ.

Our Invitation

We invite you to come grasp God’s story with us.  We are a worshiping community of imperfect people, but we are confident in the gospel of Christ to transform our lives.  We hope you will join us.
