LOVE OUR CITY INITIATIVES
As we walk through a season of uncertainty and concern for the lives of our city, nation and world we want to be proactive, praying for and loving those in our city who need support and care in these difficult times. We are working intentionally to watch for opportunities that we can partner with local organizations and also be intentional in our neighborhoods to love our city. Below are our encouragements for Westwind to engage beyond our walls to see the Gospel moved in intentional and practical ways as we meet the practical and spiritual needs of the community around us.
Single Parent Provision cannot serve the high volume of families we do each year without people like you who devote their generous time, talent, and effort to volunteer. If you are interested in investing in the lives of single parents and their children, consider spending a few hours during the week volunteering in our office! We have a variety of needs that may include:
Mailings: sorting, labeling, organizing
Seasonal Events: craft kit assembly, gift bag assembly, etc.
Data Entry
Data Verification
Invitation phone calls
Organizing: toys, gifts, program materials, etc.
To volunteer in our office, simply go to our website and follow the link for Office Volunteer. If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering in our programs or other ways, please email us at volunteer@singleparentprovision.org.

We partner locally with InnerVisions Health Care who provides women and men facing unplanned pregnancies or sexually transmitted diseases with compassionate, non-judgmental, and truthful information, sexual integrity education, and free medical care, to empower them to make the most informed, life-affirming decisions for themselves and their families.
In response to the COVID-19 crisis their services remain open to a community who is desperately in need of the services they provide. Many of their clients are in need of basic essential items for their homes and babies. You can partner with the staff of InnerVisions by donating gift cards and/or baby supplies during this time. The highest demand for gift cards are grocery and gas cards. The most popular stores are Walmart, Hyvee and Casey’s. The biggest need for baby supplies are diapers, formula, baby food and toddler snacks.
Their goal with supplying baby supplies and gift cards are to provide an immediate/temporary need to our patients that are struggling and connecting them with community resources that can meet a continuous need. It also provides us nurses a unique opportunity to encourage, emotionally support and pray for and with women that we have supported through their pregnancies and beyond.
To provide these needs through InnerVisions you can either donate financially online or purchase the items listed above and drop them at the location below at the front porch. Click on the appropriate button to learn more.
We partner locally with Friendship Center Des Moines, located in the Martin Luther King neighborhood in Des Moines. Friendship Center provides Christ-centered ministry services through discipleship programs, community outreaches, basic needs support of food and clothing and life skills development to empower their community to thrive. During this time of the COVID19 crisis they need the support to stock their food shelves as they continue to serve the community meeting the basic and essential needs for families. Below are the most needed items they are seeking donations of.
Any donations can be dropped of at the Westwind Church offices (205 NE Dartmoor Drive, Waukee) on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9am-3pm. Please do not leave donations outside as to assure they are received and safe for delivery.
