Westwind Church launched in September of 2008 with a mission to reach the fast growing western side of Des Moines with the Gospel. God led our original core families to commit and plant this church in the city of Waukee and we have been here from day 1. At the beginning of our journey we placed a value in being mobile, allowing us to invest intentionally into the development of leaders, ministry and planting churches. Through the years, we have continued to hold to that value, while at the same time learning and discovering how rooting our ministry in Waukee was both a growing desire and a need to reach our community effectively. In 2012 the opportunity to purchase the Sportsplex West facility on Olson Drive launched our journey in asking God to provide a permanent home for Westwind Church in the city limits of Waukee. Since 2012 we have looked at different locations throughout Waukee - the Vineyard on Warrior Lane, the original St. Boniface property on 4th Street, our office location on Dartmoor Drive to name a few. Each a step in our learning and each a step in our growing desire to have a permanent home as we discovered the perfect timing of God’s plan. We now stand in awe of how God has placed the Westbrook property in our journey and how through His incredible work through the generosity of His people allowed us to close on the property on December 17, 2020 and successfully open the doors to the community in October, that same year. Since then, we’ve seen God do some incredible ministry through this property, and we are beyond excited to see how He continues to move as we faithfully pursue His calling for our church and steward this blessing with His glory in mind.
